Year 7 Shared Education STEM Day

28th May 2019

Year 7 recently took part in a Shared Education STEM day with our friends from St James’ Primary School.   The event took place in our assembly hall.  Firstly everybody was given a group name such as spheroids, trapeziums or dodecagons.  Then we worked in teams to complete the 15 different challenge stations.  We had great fun making the tallest towers from 20 straws, testing our hoop gliders, solving maths puzzles and taking part in the hand hygiene demonstration.

We also had a visit from a STEM Ambassador and scientist who works for Andor.    Andor is a company who manufacture high-performance scientific imaging cameras and they are world leaders in this field.  We were allowed to hold and inspect the cameras and we were amazed by them.   We were also inspired by the talk that Marcin, a scientist from Andor, gave us and we were very impressed by the work that he does.   Perhaps one day we could be like Marcin and work for a company like Andor.   We also really liked the tins of sweets we were all given by Marcin and Andor.
