To enhance our learning of the story of The Little Red Hen we decided to make our own bread so that we could be like the characters in the story.
We worked together to follow the recipe and when it was finished we ate it! It was delicious!
We learned and developed skills of:
- weighing using scales
- measuring ingredients
- understanding the language of units of measure
- manipulative and fine motor skills of pouring, mixing, cutting and spreading
- understanding simple chemical reactions
- sequencing
- retelling
- following instructions
- understanding the language of procedure
- understanding health and safety issues
- working together towards a shared goal.
We also tried lots of types of bread to find out which ones we liked best. Pancakes and bagels were firm favourites!
