New Year New You

As part of our wellbeing strategy we hold an annual 'New Year, New You' week.  This is a week when we cover key areas of pupils' health such as Healthy Eating, Health & Safety, Physical Health, and Emotional Health and Aspirations.  Pupils engage in a whole range of curriculum work, fun visits and community projects.  We are also seeking to engage parents and the wider community into this fantastic week.

We are very grateful for the support of local businesses and community organisations who have supported 'New Year, New You'.  Key supporters are:

  • Boots Opticians;
  • Monkstown Dental Practice;
  • Tescos;
  • Love for Life (R.S.E./Puberty Workshops);
  • Family Connections;
  • Abbey Community College.

As a school we take our pupils' welfare seriously.  Pupils must be safe, healthy and self-confident if they are to reach their potential as learners.  This fun and interesting week is a great way for the teachers to address many of the key elements of the P.D.M.U. curriculum as well as teaching literacy and numeracy meaningfully in context.

See the attached documents to get an overview of what the week is all about.  In addition, see a summary of the pupils' feedback and finally enjoy some of the photographs from 'New Year, New You' events.

Already we are planning for an even better event in January 2018.  The planned dates are the 8th to 12th January, 2018.
