Y3 at Castle Espie

8th Feb 2018

Y3 set off on their trip to Castle Espie on Tuesday. We were all wrapped up warm and ready for our day out. We had fantastic guides to take us around and teach us about ducks and geese. We listened to the birds talking and all the different sounds they made. We fed them bird seed and watched the different ways they fed. Some dived to the bottom for quite a while, some went under sticking their bottoms in the air and some grabbed the seeds on the top of the water. We used binoculars in a bird hide and spotted a Curlew! We even saw a swan take off and fly! Mrs Weir said that hadn't happened on a trip before! We learnt all about Brent geese and how they migrate from Arctic Canada to Castle Espie every year!
